Damla Turan

MSc. Architect, Landscape Architect, MArch. Urban Designer

Damla is a founding partner of SKAB. She is an architect with over 11 years’ experience in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design.

Besides being involved in projects of various scales and types, consisting of residential, office, and mixed-use building designs, she has specialist expertise in transportation projects. She has extensive international experience, in various award winning aviation projects.

In Grimshaw Architects, she had the opportunity to work on complex aviation designs in greater detail such as Heathrow Airport Expansion, JFK Airport Masterplanning, and Zurich Airport Competition projects. In GMWM Architects she was heavily involved with the Eurasia Tunnel Operations & Management Building, in which she worked on all aspects of design and construction. At Kuwait International Airport, she developed tailored solutions in the BIM environment.

In Haptic Architects, she continued her expertise in aviation projects with Noida International Airport project and she is currently leading the North Area design development in HS2 Euston Station.

Damla obtained double major degree from Istanbul Technical University where she has graduated with the highest grade rank for both architecture and landscape architecture majors and obtained the best graduation project award. Afterwards, she was awarded the first prize in the competition by Domus Academy, Milan where she continued her studies in Urban Vision & Architectural Design Department and graduated with distinction.

She has been awarded in many national and international competitions in various scales and design fields including Izmir Transport/Transfer Hub.

As a designer, Damla has the skillset to handle all the processes from conceptual design to construction administration, with a clear understanding of the necessities for the process. Besides her design background, she currently plays a key role in steering new business strategies for SKAB.
